Does anyone know of any good ones?

Do you mean organic food, Pie? I have used Abel & Cole in the past, & they were fine but I just found the whole thing very expensive. This will be of no interest if you didn't mean organic food....

yes thats what I meant hoxtonchick, sorry for my muddiness!!

Having a look now, does seem very expensive. Was it value for money?

Was trying to think if I'd embarrassed myself & there was anything else really obvious delivered in boxes....

It was ages ago, but I think we had a mixed fruit-veg type box & didn't end up using everything. I was quite surprised as dp is veggie. Now I just skulk round Sainsbury's when they're reducing things & buy organic bargains.

I tried one called Farmaround ages ago but our drop off was on Monday so it was all manky by the time we used it. I use Food Ferry for my grocery shopping www.foodferry.co.uk/ and I think they do a lot of specialist/posh/organic food. I only use them for "stuff you don't have to squeeeze" which is my rule as I prefer to choose my own fruit, veg, meat etc. I also haven;t transferred to Tesco or Waitrose etc on line as Food Ferry can deliver SAME DAY, the people they employ are all lovely and put stuff away for you and, although they may have a smaller range, they nearly always delivery what you order with very few exceptions. If they can't get something they often phone to tell you. Highly recommended.

Er...I think A&C is pretty good value compared to the shops! We get a salad bag and a fruit box. You can state dislikes for boxes but not bags. We get vg bread too, and sometimes other things...had farmaround in the past and was very unimpressed.

I second the recommendation of Food Ferry. Always reliable, however, I only use them occasionally as it is more expensive. Now I find that M&S have excellent seasonal organic veg, cheaper than a delivery, where we go regularly, but Waitrose has the widest choice, only no Waitrose near to us, so again, only occasionally use it. I think that when you live in a big city and all the food has been bussed in, it does not make much ethical difference whether it is from a supermarket or box scheme.

I also like Abel and Cole and think it's good value (compared to organic stuff in the supermarkets). I pay £5 for a bag of veg each week and we usually eat it all, esp at the moment as I can puree any lurking veg for dd. There is pretty good variety (except for a month or so in late winter when it's a bit dull due to season change) and it makes us eat veg that we probably wouldn't buy in the shop, like butternut squash and celeriac. And it's all delicious - very carrotty carrots, iykwim. Very occasionally we get stuff that we hate (jerusalem artichokes = the devil's food), but on the whole I think it's very good.
