DD would like one but the ones in the supermarket are around £12.00.
Just wondered if there was a way of decorating a Victoria Sponge with some sort of Hello Kitty picture/icing???
Or any other ideas welcome.
(She will be 3)

I did this for DD1, I will see if I can post a pic on my profile.

I iced a round cake with roll out ready made icing. Did an extra cake that I used to make the ears.

Used liquorice bootlaces for whiskers, a jelly bean for he orange nose and black wine gums for the eyes. Bought a piece of red ribbon which I tied in a bow and stuck over one ear.

I thought it looked really good but I don't think I saved much money to be honest by the time I had bought all the bits and pieces, but think it is nicer to have homemade.

I saw a Hello Kitty silicone cake form recently.

I can't click on anyone's profile, that's odd.

I just tried to look at profiles too and none are coming up.
I Will check mine in a minute.
If it doesn't work, I might see if there is a problem at site stuff.

cheers - I had lots of fun doing it.

Big oval cake & then trimmed the ends off to shape. I used a B&W picture of Hello Kitty to get the proportions correct so my cake was pretty much to 'scale' (inspired by recent maths thread on MN).

Added on ears cut out of another piece of cake. Cut in the middle and smeared with jam & buttercream, then buttercream all over. Then the rolled white icing (rolled onto baking paper to make it easy to apply. Used a piece of icing wrapped in cling-film (www tip) to rub icing all over to smooth. Then the easy decorations with jellybeans and licorice which I finally found in a health food shop.

Time consuming but easy - I enjoyed making it & DD loved it. It fed all the party masses with sufficient leftovers for family the next day.

Did one for my DD's 4th birthday. Big rectangular cake (I made brownie so I didn't have to cut and fill it). Cut it into a Hello Kitty face shape - sized it up using a grid on a smaller pic then copying each piece of the grid onto a big piece of paper to use as a template if you get my drift. Buttercreamed, rolled out white icing from the supermarket then added eyes, nose and whiskers in black icing that I bought (have great cake supply shop nearby) and used grid template to get the positioning right. Then bought a piece of pink gingham ribbon, made it into a bow and popped it by her ear. Very simple, but it worked out really well.
