When you blind bake pastry do the rice or beans you use become unuseable? Will I be able to cook the rice normally or do I have to chuck it??

And before anyone suggests, I ain't got the money for those baking bean things

I wouldn't have thought they would cook well, having been baked. I keep the ones I use in a sealable container and re-use them. That cuts back on the costs.

I do the same as hmb, I have bought very cheap dry beans and always use those - I bake blind at least twice a month and these beans must be 5 years old or more.... look like new

I do not know if you can eat them afterwards I have never tried.
