We have one 3 weeks out of 4 on average. We have the full deal, proper roast, roasted potatoes and real gravy. add on 2-3 other veg, and a gglass of wine for the cook . We all love it

martianbishop, I bet you know about non-Newtonian and Thixotrophic fluids too don't you?
I did denaturing of DNA and proteins in biochemical engineering - first year at uni. Why do broken DNA helices smell like wet dogs? (Not a joke, but I always wanted to know, cos that is what the stench was like in the labs )

If you think this is boring, wait until I start going on about lightbulbs.

for god's sake, get a room you two

Blandmum · 21/12/2005 14:49

And you can spot all the non-virgin girls when you do a DNA extraction cos they all go....'Oh yuck it looks like.....' and then stop and blush!

mb, suzy sez we have to get a room first!
I theorised at length on why chicagomum's bulbs kept popping.

GingerBearingGifts · 21/12/2005 14:56

it must be the hydrogen sulphide that forms when the hydrogen bonds are broken then! but I thought that was rotten eggs, not wet dogs?
Wonder if anyone has analysed the make-up of the odour of a wet dog?

GizmoHoHo · 21/12/2005 14:57

Isn't that a different sort of DNA extraction, MB?

ooooohhh thanks MB

night-night

Blandmum · 21/12/2005 15:06

No, not Hydrogen sulphide when the hydrogen bonds break. The sulphur in proteins is in Disulphide bonds which are different.

Not sure about the wet dog thing.....may have a google!
