In a food processor or something similar.

Or do you have to go to a butcher and get them to do it for you?

TIA

I wouldn't think it would be such a good idea, putting chicken through a food proccessor, experience tells me you'll end up with pate type stuff.

NotQuiteCockney · 19/12/2005 17:26

I think you'd want to be running it through a spong or something like that. If you overdo it, you end up with mush.

IOTAnnenbaum · 19/12/2005 17:27

if you want to make something like chicken nuggets. its very easy to shred it in a blender - just pulse it really quickly on a slowish speed or else you do end up wuth a fine paste

Yes, that's what I meant by "spong" - one of the manual ones. Is "spong" not a real word?

Epiffany · 19/12/2005 17:29

lakeland and tefal do very good hand mincers, we have an old proper one.

I just chuck mine in the blender and put it on the pulse setting, don't overdo it though

JonesTheSteamingSanta · 19/12/2005 17:36

Have never heard of a SPONG before - assumed it was a spelling mistake .

I remember my gran having a hand mincer thing when I was little - she used to make a fab shepherd's pie with the remains of the Sunday roast.

I'll try the blender thing (if I can find it - lots of rummaging in kitchen cupboards this evening!!) and if I'm crap at that (highly likely!!!!) I might treat myself to the one on the Lakeland website after Xmas!!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!

we also used it to make chutney

JonesTheSteamingSanta · 19/12/2005 17:42

I didn't mean to buy it from the website - just that it was on there!!!!

Will definitely be visiting the shop!!!!! !!

Oh, I'm glad to know spong is a real word. It's the word my ILs use for theirs, but it doesn't really sound like a real word, does it.

(But then, I grew up somehow thinking spatula wasn't a real word.)

IOTAnnenbaum · 19/12/2005 18:03

look I found a picture

suedonim · 19/12/2005 22:48

I've minced up chicken in my magimix and it's been fine. Just do it on pulse and in small amounts. If the chicken has been frozen then it minces well when it's at that thawed-but-still-a-bit-icy stage.

I used to cook it first then blitz it to the right texture / consistency in the hand held blender gizmo

lou33 · 21/12/2005 00:42

No. Home made minced chicken kills.
