Chocolate rice crispie cake thingies ... silly question ....??

DS has a tea party at school tomorrow for the end of term and has been asked to bring in something sweet ... they have specifically asked for home baking (WTF???) but DS doesn't want me to make muffins or cake of any kind (I love baking but he doesn't really eat cake!)
He wants those rice crispy chocolate things ...
I have never made them but presume it is just melted chocolate mixed into rice crispies then put in cup cake cases and put in the fridge over night??
Or is there a secret ingredient?

Even nicer made with corn flakes, rather than rice crispies.

TheholyGHOSTY · 19/12/2005 00:59

Oh, oh, oh ....
now I don't know what to do!

I only have Crunchy Nut Cornflakes in the cupboard ... what will that taste like I wonder?

This is the failsafe Nigel Slater recipe I always use & get complimented on. Don't use any other!

50g butter
4 tablespoons golden syrup
100g plain or milk chocolate
75g cornflakes or rice Krispies

Gently melt butter, syrup and choc in small, heavy pan. Stir in the cornflakes. Spoon into cake cases and put in fridge to set. I stick a smartie on top. They look sweet in those mini cake cases, just 2 bites big.

Marshmallows mixed in are great - but I don't know how you, ahem, prepare them, but they do seem to melt in some way.

BudaBabeInAManger · 19/12/2005 08:57

Thanks for that guys - sorted now for DS's party tomorrow!

starandsnowshaker · 19/12/2005 09:01

ISawMommieKissingSantaClaws · 20/12/2005 13:28

slightly bad timing I know, but I like this idea!

Substitute rice crispies or cornflakes with shredded wheat.

My mum makes easter nests with this mix, and puts mini eggs in them. Nice!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 20/12/2005 13:29

They're fab made with mars bars rather than chocolate...

snowfalls · 20/12/2005 13:52
