Wine in sauces - no go?

Hi everyone, quick (and possibly stupid) question.

My ds is currently on lumpy purees, but I am thinking that when he gets ready for something a bit more like grown up food, I would really like it if I could start him on the food that his dad and I eat.

I want to avoid having to do two lots of the same food (some for him, some for us) but also don't want to compromise on taste for our food.

So the question is, if I'm making a spag bol, say, which I would normally put wine in, do I need to omit the wine if I'm giving it to my little boy? I know the alcohol burns off, but would there be too much residual alcohol for it to be safe for a young child?

Salt is easier because his dad and I can always add that at the table if we want...

thanks and again sorry if a stupid question!

I'd not even thought about it with DD, as long as it's well cooked it should be fine. You could always slightly reduce the amount that you put in.

I've never worried about it either and my daughter's not too addled (I hope!). Alcohol will be long gone by the time you serve it.

I never worried about it neither. Lots of my recipes contain wine but mostly only a small amount so by the time your little one has a tiny portion its not going to make a difference.

I gave up on making like harder on myself with DS2, he's mighty strong and healthy and loves tasty food.

The alcohol will have cooked off by the time you serve it so not a problem.

Thank you all - put my mind at rest.
