What to have for Tea

What can I give DD who is 14months, dairy intolerant and fussy for tea tonight? Something quick and easy please. I was thinking about beans on toast but not sure she will eat the toast?

She had sausage yesterday and chicken and rice for lunch today.

Cheers

pasta twists, a bit of pesto and some grated mozarella - yum

podkin · 05/12/2005 16:35

whoops skip the cheese - sorry !

FlameRobin · 05/12/2005 16:36

Toast is often much more tasty if mummy has spent hours cutting it into Christmas Tree shapes

nailpolish · 05/12/2005 16:37

pasta, tuna and a tin of tomatoes

thats what my 2 are having tonight

Beabea · 05/12/2005 16:38

I might just try that but skip the pesto too as it has cheese in that too.

I also may have to just go for spagetti in reserve as she hasnt really taken to other pasta. Strange girl!

What else could I put with pasta? Trying to think what I have in the cupboards.

Cheers

Does the shaped toast really work? I wonder if she will even notice.

Im willing to try anything. She eats toast at nursery, go figure!!

sausages and beans with a little omlette?

podkin · 05/12/2005 16:43
  • my brains cells aren't firing simultaneously at the moment - sorry ! err, that just leaves the pasta...
What about a bit of ham, sweetcorn, mushrooms ?
nailpolish · 05/12/2005 16:43

boiled egg and soldiers

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 05/12/2005 16:44

I used to blitz up chickpeas with garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin and pepper and stir that into hot pasta. Ds used to wolf it down. it kind of tastes rather buttery mixed in with the pasta.
Ds is lactose intolerant too.

FlameRobin · 05/12/2005 16:45

Yup, food in weird and wonderful shapes is apparantly much more tasty. Sausage and mash made into faces or a volcano tastes so much better than just dumped on a plate... in the same way that smiley face potato things taste much better than chips!

Beabea · 05/12/2005 16:49

Dingdongmeggymoonhigh - that sounds quite good. Now do I have chick peas. Cupboards are a little bare.

Thanks for the other suggestions. Eggs sounds a good one too. With shaped toast

It's yumm. I always have a few tins of chickpeas on standby for making humous and falafel, great little things.

Beabea · 05/12/2005 17:02

Well it might be her lucky day as I do have a tin of chickpeas. If she doesnt like it I will have to do her a boiled egg for the first time.

Wish me luck!

Well after all that DD was teething too much to eat her tea. She would only have a soya desert. Not even a yoghurt. Just glad she had a decent lunch.

Mine refused to eat dinner too - nothing to do with teething, just been a stubborn little lady

Beabea · 06/12/2005 19:20

Frustrating isnt it. I also find that she can be too tired to eat even at 5pm. She had most of a sandwich at a friends tonight at 4.15pm and would only eat her soya desert when we got home.

Then she wouldnt go in the bath and just wanted her milk and bed. So thats what I gave her. Though in the process I forgot to wash her face and clean her teeth.

Such a bad mum!!
