Redcurrant jelly - does it freeze

I have done some beautiful-looking redcurrant jelly last night. I put them in jars. How long do they keep? Shall I freeze some of them?

I have an awful lot more redcurrants out in the garden.

Why would you want to freeze it? Firstly, you shouldn't need to if the jelly has set. You will have driven the moisture level down and the sugar level up to a level that will preserve it if in a well sealed jar. Secondly, the jelly would expand when it froze and crack the jar. It should keep for a couple of years in a dark dark place quite easily. I store my jam and jellies in the (windowless) garage.

I think if you freeze it you will lose the jelliness of the jelly - that is, when you thaw it can become runny. If you've made something that doesn't need to set, such as apple jam, it's different, and I freeze it all the time.

My mother freezes redcurrants whole.

Thank you very much. So it should just keep, shouldn't it?

Sorry, I am just such a worrier.
