dd has decided she likes courgettes- great, but I have only ever had them in lasagne or many moons ago at a carvery in batter Shock.

How do I cook them, nothing too fancy or greasy if possible please....

Bake in the oven with a little olive oil.
Bake in the oven with a little olive oil and some cheese grated on top.
Fried in a little butter but watch the butter doesn't burn before the courgettes are cooked.

Slice and fry lightly, or slice a bit thicker then roast in a little olive oil.

chop them into chunks and cook them with baked beans (along with green beans, sweetcorn/whatever other veg takes your fancy)

make chocolate courgette cake.

I like them best just cooked with the other veg, but you can put them in with pasta (it's nice if you do pasta and a couple of different veg, and stir in crem cheese (the stuff with garlic and herbs))

Crumbs that was quick Grin

So oil or butter essential is it? I was hoping to avoid, as we're having fish and chips.

Maybe I'll just do broccoli and have the courgettes tomorrow.

Thanks anyway peeps and keep 'em coming for another day.

also, i slice them (or chunk them again) and use them as a pizza topping

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 16:56

you don't need to use oil or butter - jsut cook them with your broccoli.

PurveyorOfBaloney · 31/05/2011 16:57

nickelbabe · 31/05/2011 16:58

Sliced diagonally and char-grilled on a ridged grill pan. YUM!

Delicious with pasta. Fried in a little oil till they go soft and then mushed with garlic and some creme fraiche, parmesan etc. Fantastic.
