Has anyone dined at any of Jamie's 15 restaurants?

I was just wondering if anyone would tell me their experiences.

A friend has said she'd treat me for my birthday, so we've decided to go there.

I'm just trying to book and there's a gap to put a voucher code in - so if anyone could point me in the fight direction, that would be super too.

Ate at the one in London a couple of years ago. I'm afraid I thought it really over-priced for what it was. You pay for the "Jamie Oliver" brand.

If you have the whole of London to choose from, I (personally) wouldn't choose this.

JennyPiccolo · 12/05/2011 07:39

Where are you, Chaos? The one in Glasgow ran out of pasta once and had to shut it's doors.

MackerelOfFact · 12/05/2011 07:44

Nothing useful to add, I just wanted to point out I read the title as 'Has anyone died at any of Jamie's 15 restaurants?' Grin

redandgreen · 12/05/2011 07:47

I've been to the original one twice. First time was about 6 years ago and I loved it. Second time was recently and was a rip off because there were 7 of us and they make you pay for a set menu. So don't do that. There is a big price range so if it's just the two of you i think you'll enjoy it. No idea about voucher code though.

VivClicquot · 12/05/2011 07:49

I've eaten at the one in Cornwall and I have to say it is quite possibly my favourite restaurant in the UK - the food was outstanding, and the service was fantastic. Each of the young chefs responsible for each course / dish would come over and talk about their food, explain how it was cooked and seek feedback on whether we enjoyed it. It is pricey, especially if you have wine etc too, but I would definitely recommend it.

davidtennantsmistress · 12/05/2011 07:55

we have one opening locally soon, can't wait to test it out with the girls.

prolificwillybreeder · 12/05/2011 09:41

I wholeheartedly agree with VivCliquot. She said it all really. Great views at the Cornwall one too

Pagwatch · 12/05/2011 09:48

The 15 restaurant was fantastic.
We did the multi course menu -7 I think??
But it was quite a few years ago and we did the sommelier selection alongside so I was hugely pissed by the very end. But lovely.

We have a bog standard jamies locally too. Which are nice but, you know, just a quick family lunch type thing.

Pagwatch · 12/05/2011 09:49

Sorry -lost a chunk

The one I went to was central london. About four years ago. Lovely.

colditz · 12/05/2011 09:51

I'd be scared pf drowning in olive oil

ChaosTrulyReigns · 12/05/2011 09:56

It's the Watergate Bay one.

Yup, a 7 course taster menu - I shall be driving and DF will be having the accompanying recommended wine. Envy

We have a local Jamie's Italian which the DC love, especially the children's menu gadgets. Grin

I'm only going to listen to the good reviews on this thread and highly hope that it's ace.

We've been to Jamies Italian by the Bullring in Birmingham... it was OK but expensive for what it was. I probably wouldn't go again.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 12/05/2011 10:03

DH has been to the Bullring one, and said it was very expensive for what it was and just average. And one of his colleagues had to send his food back as it was cold.

Pagwatch · 12/05/2011 10:05

Chaos

You will love it. It is nothing like jamies Italian , even though we enjoy that too.

But completely different experience and great food.
Same menu as me then Grin
no idea what it is like without the huge quantity of wine.

Get a cab woman

Pagwatch · 12/05/2011 10:08

stop telling her your shit reviews of jamies Italian. She is going to 15.

Ignore them chaos. You will love it

herdingcats · 12/05/2011 10:09

We went to the one in Watergate Bay. The food was lovely as far as my DD and I were concerned .We took MIL and she had offered to pay, then complained to us all the way through, but said nothing to staffHmm
DD was also there and I did find their childrens choice very restrictive only 2 choices and no fish or veggie option. Also when we asked they could not even do a half portion of an adult choice for her.
On the web it stated 4 choices for children and happy to help with any dietary requirements, not from our experience.
Saying all that I would try again ,but just DH and I, maybe a tad more relaxingWink

herdingcats · 12/05/2011 10:10

Sorry Blush that should have been DH and I in second sentence. My typing just gets worse!

TheMitfordsMaid · 12/05/2011 10:31

I was very disappointed by Watergate Bay. Obviously the setting is quite spectacular, but the food was terrible and the service average. We had a much better time at Rik Stein's chippy in Padstow.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 12/05/2011 10:39

Ahha! See we did Rick last year! Wink

Yes, leave me alone - I am going to 15!!

We are going to be childfree.

And I'm not going to be narky that DF is imbibing and I'm driving, oh no I'm not, no I'm not, no I'm flipping not.

[gritted teeth]

Alas, I have to be the drivist as we are staying too far away for a cab.

Sad

We went to the Watergate Bay 15 for lunch a couple of months ago whilst on holiday - it was absolutely fab! Really, really lovely, tasty, good food - interesting and delicious, and the service was great. Took ds who was beautifully behaved (I would have left if he hadn't been) and they were great with him too. Actually quite a few children in the restaurant but you wouldn't have known it. All were very calm and quiet, but they provided crayons etc so Jamie can even take a bit of credit for that!

I couldn't take advantage of the wine because I'm pregnant so can't comment on that I'm afraid. Also went to Rick Steins chippy and service was crap and the food wasn't great, imo! So opposite experienceto you TheMitfordsMaid! Actually, we saw the same family at both and I said to dh - bet she's a mnetter - it wasn't you was it?!

Will defo go again next time we're down there.

I'm very Envy of a wine filled, child free lunch at Watergate Bay... Have a fab time - Happy Birthday! Oh, and make sure you have my wine I was denied!

pirateparty · 12/05/2011 10:54

Oh just seen you can't have it... Oh well. I'll have yours and mine next time we go instead! Grin

TheMitfordsMaid · 12/05/2011 11:13

Nope, definitely not me. We were there last year. Isn't it funny how we can all have such different experiences? The bread was good at Fifteen though.

pirateparty · 12/05/2011 11:30

Oh I'm quite disappointed it wasn't you! I still bet she was a mnetter! I suspect it depends who is working that day, the exact mix of clients and staff, and luck (or not!)

Fimbo · 12/05/2011 11:34

We took pics outside Watergate Bay 15 whilst we were on holiday at Easter. Didn't look like it catered very well for children, so didn't bother going in. Went to the restaurant/bar immediately below it, who's name escapes me now and it was fantastic.
