Drinks other than milk

My nine month old will not drink anything that is not milk. I have tried lots of different drinks, in her cup and in a different cup/glass. My mum has given her tea and hot choc which she drank. Since then I have tried her with warm juices but she still will not drink them. I don't really want her drinking tea and hot choc routinely...any advice on what to try next?

We went through this a bit with DS but I persisted with water and he does drink that now. I changed his cup to one with no handles (tommie tippee) which he liked but he loves nothing more than doing what we're doing e.g having a sip from a cup with no lid, sipping out of a plastic bottle and he loves the novelty of a straw! He's 6 months older than your baby though. I was worried he didn't really want water but my friend kept saying that he will, the more that weaning went on. She was right!
Maybe try varying what you are putting the drink in??

Good luck!

Could you maybe try diluting the milk with water, and gradually reducing the ratio of milk in it? For instance for one week try 3 parts milk to one water, then 2 to 2, then 1 to 3 and then just water. She may just need to get used to the 'taste' of water since it's so plain compared to milk! And also agree that varying the cup might help too.

Just give water. When she is thirsty she will drink it.

I would persist with water. She may just not need to drink anything other than milk yet. I remember that it took DD a long time to want anything other than milk to drink.

Food like cucumber, celery, apples is a good source of water too.

Is she having formula or bm? Because dehydration tends not to be as big a problem with bf on demand babies apparently.

Went through this with DD too - I solved the problem by very gradually watering down her milk, so eventually it was more water than milk & she was then far open to trying & enjoying other stuff - you have to keep it up though & not end up giving her undiluted milk at any one time or she will notice & you'll have to start again.

weirdly DD can't drink milk now, but will drink ANYTHING else she is offered - bar waterHmm
