I've just made cookies but they have risen loads. I have another batch of the mixture in the fridge since I was goign to freeze it but is there any way I can correct the mixture before I do so? If I add more flour for example?? Confused

Have you used self-raising flour instead of plain? Too much bicarb or other raising agent?

My recipe says make small balls from the mixture and then flatten slightly with a fork. They come out just like the ones from the supermarket bakeries :)

can I have your recipe somerset mum?

I didn't flatten them, will try that next time. It may also be that I didn't need the bicarb. It was an american recipe which called for baking soda and so I used bicarbonate of soda - maybe should have used baking powder? Eggs were very fresh (still warm) and so maybe it would have been fine with neither.

Is there any way I can change the rest of the mixture do you think?

I use this recipe for perfect results every time

1 pkt unsalted butter
6oz caster sugar
11oz self raisig flour (I use one white, one milk, see below)

beat sugar and butter together until light and fluffy.
fold in the flour
add chocolate chips (but I split the mixture in two at this stage and make one batch of white chocolate and one batch of milk)

Use hands to make into dough (don't worry if it's a bit crumbly)
Make into small balls, golf ball sizeish, place on tray (I put on greasproof) and flatten slightly with fork
Bake for 15 minutes at 180C
Leave to cool for 2 mins before removing from tray
