Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum.

I have a very lively and energetic 2 year old daughter. She was exclusively breast fed and has managed to wean herself off it except for the odd before bed feeds.

Trouble is, she won't eat much of her lunch or dinners. I have noticed that if I feed her off my plate she'll happily comply but this is not a good habit and she should ideally be feeding herself. She knows how to use the cutlery but most of the food ends up on the floor. I have tried to get her to eat off her own plate with some help from me but she always fights me! Her diet is varied, plenty of chicken, fish and rice. Not very keen on bananas, loves apples, pears and oranges and full fat yoghurt. Does not like cheese at all, will eat pasta, eggs, cereals and rice/noodles but only a tiny bit. I have 3 older kids at junior and high school level and I have to cater for them too. Is this a case of the terrible twos as I seem to have forgotten how difficult it is to feed toddlers at this age. HELP!! Confused

eat together and let her eat off your plate, shes still a baby, let her munch away, there are no rights and wrongs at this age, let her finger feed too, they came first, it will pass good luck

When my toddler's having an "i don't want to eat that, or that, or that" day I just try and get high fat things into her, to keep her energy up. She'll eat cheese until the cows come home, for example.

It always seem weird to think about high-fat foods being a good thing (for children, in the right quantity, I mean) when I seem to spend all my life looking for low fat alternatives.

Put the food in the middle of the table and serve you both from that maybe? Rather than a pre-served plate each. If she's 2 she could start trying to serve herself some things too.

This book is supposed to be very good. I'd let her eat off your plate too.
