my 15yr old dd won't try anything new, she has always been a fussy eater but i thought she would grow out of it, but she hasn't, and i don't know what to do, she will eat potatoes, in any form except plain boiled, she prefers roast potatoes instead of anything else, and she eats pasta for her school lunch, with bacon and cheese in but to get her to try something new is impossible and usually ends up with her nearly in tears and me feeling like the worlds worst mother, she will eat junk food but how can i get her to eat fresh food with the rest of us, i don't buy junk and i cook everything from scratch but she just won't touch it, my ds will eat whatever is put on his plate with no problems. she is a good kid in every way, a straight A student with a close circle of good friends, i always know where she is and who she is with, but i am getting seriously worried about her eating habits. Any advice please

What have you tried so far, to persuade her to eat other foods?
What does your DD say when you ask her why she doesn't like fresh food?
What does she eat apart from potatoes/junk food/pasta with bacon and cheese?

I was like this when I was younger but my mum after like you pleading arguing just left me to it and by 18 I had grown out of it and just all of a sudden started eating new things and trying stuff where as before I lived on chicken, plain potatos, pasta and spaghetti on toast I ate these meals on rotation day in day out
So don't worry I was never ill and done well at school and not overweight she will grow out of it

thanks blondiemermaid that is reassuring, she has actually got better in the last year, before that it was just fries, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel, i just get so frustrated, its nice to know someone else has been through it

I was like this too - used to make home made pizzas with just plain dough, cheese and bacon...no tomato sauce. Was the ultimate beige food fan. Wouldn't touch anything like spag bol, plain veg or anything veg based, anything sloppy, any meat but chicken. Snapped out of it when I was more independent at 18, went travelling, went to uni. Then started trying the basics (pizza with tomato wow!), snapped out of it and didn't look back. Now eat anything at all, LOVE tomatoes and beige food really really doesn't appeal.

There was absolutely nothing my mother could have done to facilitate this. HTH
