I needed something very easy and fast for dinner, and decided on "English Muffin Pizzas" which is something I (American) have grown up eating. At the store waiting in line it suddenly occurred to me that it was likely that English people wouldn't call them English muffins.

Btw, they are absolutely delicious with a little pizza sauce, a piece of pepperoni and a slice of mozzarella. Baked until it's got brown bits on the cheese.

So what do you call these little bready things?

Thank you for the pictures DoubleNegativePanda Smile If only you'd taken one without the toppings!!

They look like muffins. The key thing is if you had to slice (or fork) them open before putting toppings on they're muffins.

They look bloody delicious, btw.

Cross-post.

So they're muffins, then.

Definitely muffins. Crumpets don't work as well as pizzas anyway, the toppings all drip down into the holes and it gets messy.

I really like the sound of Crumpets. I fear that they will be as scarce here as Cheetos are in the UK, though.

There are still two left in the package. If you want, I can take a picture if you want to see one naked Grin
