So how do you make baking powder?

I know it's cream of tartar and bicarb.
So I just made a cake but didn't have self raising flour. Then discovered I didn't have any baking powder so googled it.

Lets just say the amounts I read are not the correct amounts and the oven aint pretty.

So what are the correct quantities?

.

I've always been told 1:1 but never actually tried it. What quantities did you use?

Have you tried and tested that though.
the reason I'm asking is because I now don't just trust getting the info off a 'faceless' site

I actually used what that site said 2:1 CoT:BS

I think I must have cocked up
Or maybe an over zealous helper 'helped' when I wasn't looking

No, never tried it. It's one of my grandmother's useful tips. She is a terrible cook though. I've just googled and also seen 2:1 so maybe something did go a bit wrong. What were you making? If it had something acidic in it then that may have reacted with the bicarb too.

Justa basic chocolate cake made many times before with sr flour. sugar, eggs, flour basic

The good bit is because I was also cooking a flapjack I had to leave the oven on so the overflowed bits have cremated and has just scraped off. I have huge amount of eggs so if the gunky cake that is left tastes edible I may make a cake./cream/meringue concoction

Hm, I hope it all turned out alright in the end :)
