Recipes to make gammon less salty

I normally soak gammon joints before roasting to take salt out but didn't with this one because I was in a rush and it didn't say to. Have just got out the oven and it's so salty it's almost inedible. And I say this as one who loves salt.

Is there anything I can do with it?

You can still soak it cooked, i think, otherwise, serve with parsley sauce, the old fashioned way.

maybe serve with a sweet sauce? like apple cider jus type thing?

I will try soaking, thank you. DH don't like parsley sauce (though I love it) I may make up a couple of sauces and drown it disguise the saltiness that way. Ta.

You could turn it into a pie/casserole with some chicken. When you do, put a couple of whole (peeled) potatoes in the mix. They will pick up the salt (not entirely sure why, but it's rescued a couple of things I've done with bacon bits that were too salty). Remove the potatoes before you serve.

Good tip for next time, thank you. Have soaked it for couple hours and it worked a treat - thanks colditz
