We've tried all sorts, cereal, toast with various things on...she just won't anything at breakfast. Give me some ideas of what might work please?

Other than cereal or toast with marmite

Fruit toast
yoghurt/fromage frais (not great for the sugar but then I let him have sugary cereal so felt it was hypocritical to disallow it)
Banana
Never been organised enough but home made cake? You can hide veg in it and you can limit the sugar that way too.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 16/04/2011 22:40

have you tried a later breakfast? or does that not fit in with your schedule? mine won't eat before 9am. but at 9am the floodgates open and she will sit and eat a full english...

Pancakes.

I cook a big batch of scotch pancakes at weekends, freeze and toast during the week. Use bananas in the batter rather than sugar.

Banana bread

Parietal · 16/04/2011 22:41

Shreddies.

Although he is having a phase of Fruit and Fibre in a proper bowl with a big spoon at the moment, because he is being a real Daddy's Boy at the mom.

Flisspaps · 16/04/2011 22:43

Mini shredded wheat with milk and some dried fruit
Banana
Croissants with butter

pirateparty · 16/04/2011 22:45

My ds has (apart from cereal or toast) muffins, yogurt, fruit, sometimes has phildelphia on his toast, and on a Saturday pain au chocolate in our bed with us!

Other ideas - crumpets, boiled / scrambled eggs, or go continental with ham and cheese?!

Meglet · 16/04/2011 22:45

pancakes, I used the packet mix, I don't do weighing at that time in the morning.

Scrambled egg.

missnevermind · 16/04/2011 22:49

Brioche

ZhenXiang · 16/04/2011 22:58

Ready brek with raisins
Cheerios with warm milk (and raisins)
Crunchy nut (with raisins :) DD has a 'thing' about raisins)
Pancakes
Caribbean spiced fruit bun and cheese
Boiled egg and soldiers
Scrambled egg, baked beans and toast
Yoghurt
Fruit
Cheese on toast
Pizza toast (pitta bread, tomato puree and melted cheese)
Banana bread

DD eats breakfast later too between 8.30-9.30am like WishIWasRima

gastrognome · 17/04/2011 11:59

Any combination of:
Muesli or raisin wheats with lots of extra raisins added and whole milk.
Toast/muffin/bagel with butter and jam.
Fromage frais or yoghurt.
Fruit (fresh or dried)
Plain brioche
Chocolate chip brioche or pain au chocolat (usually as a weekend treat)
Whole milk to drink.

The butler serves him kedgeree and a bloody mary.

blue22 · 17/04/2011 13:02

My dd has milk and fruit toast when she wakes up (around 6), then muesli with masses of fruit at around 8.30. Agree with the others that appetite not that sharp on first waking.
Other things we sometimes have are banana bread, eggs, bagel with cream cheese avocado and tomato or if it's a gorgeous morning like today I did a big plate of sliced fruit and we had a breakfast picnic in the garden.

Tolalola · 17/04/2011 13:06

DS (3) loves fruit and especially yoghurt. If I'm feeling energetic I make him fruit smoothies, which he loves.

Astrophe · 17/04/2011 13:07

My DD is 20 months and not a big eater at any time, and especially not at breakfast (and yet she is around the 90th centile...go figure).

For breakfast she normally asks for a slice of cheese, and then usually has about 5 or so mini wheats or equiv of some other cereal. She has some apple juice/water mixed, and thats it.

As others have said, she gets hungry again about 9.30/10am and has some sultanas, rice cracker, or apple, or maybe half a slice of toast if we are home. If we happen to be out for coffee or at a friends house and there is cake, she eats a bit more!

SummerRain · 17/04/2011 13:10

cereal usually but he rarely eats it. Sometimes toast or a bagal but he's rarely eats those either. We've discovered we're better off leaving him an hour and giving him something then. Dp and I are similar though so he obviously takes after us and needs to wake up properly to eat.
