I feel like changing the way we eat as a family. Any tips?

I am a SAHM with a 5 and a 2 yr old - both fussy eaters and a DH who eats almost everything in large quantities.

I eat some meat but prefer veggie meals, not keen on fish (DH and younger dd love it) and dd1 is allergic to eggs.

I am stuck in a rut of roasts, bolognese, meat and veg dinners. I am a decent cook and everything tastes fine but I am fed up with the routine though and would like a change.

DH is sort of hung up on what constitutes a 'proper' meal and I like to offer the children a balance of carbs, veg and protein although they have small appetites and eat very little.

Any suggestions on how to shake things up a bit but still provide balanced, filling meals?

Thanks

what does your dh think is a proper meal then? I have similar issues. I have one child who cannot bear 'wet' food (ie suaces, gravies etc) I would happily live on baked spud and salad, dh would nopt find that sufficient. He hates fish, we all love it. I find myself making food with lots of componenets, so everyone can enjoy some of it, eg meatballs with pasta and sauce. I have the pasta and tomato sace with salad, one child eats everything, as does DH; the other eats the meatballs, with a small amount of pasta, carrot and broccoli and bread.
When we stayed at grandma's recently, one child went 3 days eating only bread and apples, becase grandma only cooks things like shepherd's pie, mince and gravy or beef stews and he just cannot make himself eat the sauce. I was struggling with all the red meat.

He like the meat, potatoes and veg with gravy type of meal. He does eat pasta/rice/vegetarian meals but only because they are what I prefer. They wouldn't be his regular choice.

oeuf My dd1 is like your dc - she hates wet food - likes everything seperate on the plate.
