Hi everyone,

I am trying to lose weight and overall live healthier but would hate to cut yogurt out. I was ignorant enough to believe that low fat yogurts would be good for me but then read on here a while ago that a lot of fat free yogurts etc are not healthy at all.

Does anyone have suggestions of healthy yogurts? Are only unflavoured ones really good for you?

Thank you Smile

It takes a while when you're used to flavoured yogs, but once you get used to natural toghurt, it's really yummy.

Try mixing natural yoghurt with mashed red berries and adding a handful of sultanas.

Or swirl in some honey and chopped pineapple.

There are loads of ways to jazz up low fat natural yoghurt.

Low fat cottage cheese with fruit added is really ncie as well and really high in protein so great for weight loss.

Oh, that sounds lovely. Thank you Vintageteacups!
I am used to yogurt with flavour, the only thing I use plain for is cooking sometimes. I will give it a go though.

Do you have any suggestions for good ones or are they all pretty much the same (e.g. flavour wise)?

Greek yogurt is thicker (& nicer IMO) than "normal" plain yogurt.

Like coby I love it with sliced banana & some honey Grin

I have greek yoghurt with blueberries, raspberries and small amount of bran flakes for breakfast!

oooh, that's a good idea - I got some frozen fruit from the supermarket last week & it's not bad - might try defrosting some of that overnight in the fridge & having it for brekkie!

GilmoreGeek · 10/04/2011 14:44

Oh, that sounds nice. I will get some greek yogurt later.
Takewhatyoucan does that fill you up enough as breakfast?

Is Greek yoghurt low fat though? Or can you get a low fat version now?

TrillianAstra · 10/04/2011 21:14

Fat-free yoghurt isn't "unhealthy", it's neither good nor bad, it can just often be unsatisfying and so you are still hungry and it hasn't helped anything.

I don't like to be a brand pusher but Total 0% is very thick and feels like you are really eating something. Bloody expensive though.

mmmm total 0% is very nice!
