I've got an Amazon voucher and fancy getting one of his books. Can anyone recommend one? - there's a few to choose from.

I'd quite like one which has some of his cake recipes in, as I've tried a few of his from the internet and they've always been great.

TIA

don't know about cakes but appetite is his best all-rounder.

the kitchen diaries would be a very good start too.

methodsandmaterials · 08/04/2011 20:24

"Appetite" is a brilliant. Please get it.

doughnutty · 08/04/2011 20:32

I second "Appetite". Also "Real Food" is a favourite of DH's.

piebald · 08/04/2011 20:34

Not cake books but Real fast food and 30 minute meals are REALLY useful books. I have loads of his books and in my eyes he can do no wrong

Thank you all - I wasn't expecting such quick responses. Well I shall definitely go for 'Appetite' then Smile, the others sound great and I shall look at them too - and add them to my enormous wishlistGrin

There's an awesome ginger cake in Kitchen Diaries. Only cake i've tried baking from it, and it worked perfectly first time!

KurriKurri · 08/04/2011 20:55

Kitchen Diaries is sounding very tempting all of a sudden AllTheYoungDudes - I'm a big fan of ginger cake.

I've got a peach and blueberry cake online recipe of his, and it's the most delicious cake ever.

kitchen diaries is the best cook book i have. also the poncyness makes me roar

TaffetaCat · 08/04/2011 21:00

Appetite is great but has hardly any cakes in. The books of his I have that have the most cakes in are Kitchen Diaries ( which is indeed poncetastic ) and Tender Vol 2.

piebald · 08/04/2011 21:11

Anybody read Toast? It is great, see where the poncyness was formed! Also can anyone remember when he and Nigella used to be on the telly together--that was quite something!

KurriKurri · 08/04/2011 21:19

I've read Toast piebald - it's great, - and you are right about the embryonic poncyness.

yes remember him on telly with Nigella and Rowley Leigh.

TaffetaCat · 08/04/2011 21:23

Kurri - if you're after a really great cake book, this is hard to beat

KurriKurri · 08/04/2011 21:31

Taffeta - I bought that for my DD for Christmas Smile it is great, she's used it a lot because she loves baking, but she's at uni. so I haven't had a chance for a good read of it yet. (She's home tomorrow for the hols. bringing a cake she's made - if her housemates don't scoff it all Grin)
