its so expensive but i will do it if i need to - just seems to go all mushy though. ds is nearly 8 months and manages lumps well!

I didn't, just cook thoroughly and chop up small.

AMumInScotland · 07/04/2011 17:12

No, its nutritionally just the same as the ordinary stuff. Baby rice is designed to be mush, but as you say he'll be happy with lumps. Baby pasta is just cute little small bits....

You absolutely, definitely, 100% do NOT need to buy special baby pasta or baby rice.

:)

You don't have to buy special baby ANYTHING. Ever.

HTH

I just give dd fussilli (sp? - twists basically) to hold and much on.

DonaAna · 08/04/2011 12:24

You don't need to, but when my DD was that age, I bought a package or two of orzo or stelline (normal Barilla stuff meant for adults - Italians use them in soups) just because it was quicker to prepare and faster to eat. However, my both children have from very early on loved adult-size penne which I break in two with my fork while feeding them.

Don't forget couscous - it's basically the same thing and even quicker to prepare.

kenobi · 08/04/2011 12:45

I buy stelline, you know, the mini soup pasta here. DD lurves it. And have just discovered something called orzo which I'm going to try out on her tonight.

kenobi · 08/04/2011 12:46

oops realised I basically replicated your post DonaAna Blush but not as well.

storminabuttercup · 08/04/2011 12:59

i couldnt find soup pasta and like you say the small bits are faster - i'd never even thought about couscous - i love the ready prepared salad stuff but never 'cooked' any myself. think a new thread is in order for ideas.

thanks Grin

I think both Tesco & Sainsbury's do a mini pasta (shells IRC), it's what I used to buy for my 2 DC.

storminabuttercup · 08/04/2011 14:08
