When no one can bothered to shop or cook but decent healthy nutritional food is needed after the 'holiday food' consumption?

Takeaway! Would have to do a proper shop next day then start eating properly the second night.

Aworryingtrend · 06/04/2011 10:56

Beans on toast. Really. And a cup of tea.

notapizzaeater · 06/04/2011 11:29

Sausage, mash and onion gravy - tis all I crave everytime I go away for 1 week plus ....

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/04/2011 12:00

Cook curry, freeze before holiday, defrost for post-holiday dinner. Or takeaway curry if healthy and nutritional are not requirements...

MrsOtter · 06/04/2011 12:21

I was trying to avoid the takeaway trap that we always fall into.

Freezing before hand is a fab idea, why didn't I think of that?!

We always want a "proper dinner", something with mash and gravy that's the sort of thing you never eat abroad!

MadreInglese · 06/04/2011 12:30

usually stirfried veg wraps but that does involve a small amount of shopping and cooking

I never find veg how I like it on hols and always crave some when we're home, and anything plonked in a tortilla is quick and easy

ethelina · 06/04/2011 12:31

Depends though, doesn't it, what time you get home? If its before mid-afternoon then you probably have time and energy to do some basic cooking. it took us 9 hours to get back from the Lake District last month, and to be honest, a burger was good enough for us at 6pm.

The next day, however, is different.

Sandwiches and home made cheese and broccoli quiche. My grandad always picks us up from the airport and my Nan stays at home and makes us lunch which we collect on the way home [spoiltrotten]

Last year we had a very early flight so she made us bacon, mucshroom and tomato butties and a flask of tea. Om nom nom.

My mum also stocks our fridge with milk, cheese, eggs, bread, butter etc the night before we fly home.

grottielottie · 07/04/2011 09:49

Wow dooin your family sound amazing.

I go with bean and cheese toasties.

storminabuttercup · 07/04/2011 15:34

take-away - usually picked up on the way home, we seem to end up with evening flights

i always want 'dinner' food like sausage and mash or a roast. flew back with thompsons last year and the sausage and mash inflight meal was fab still got that curry though

MackerelOfFact · 07/04/2011 16:15

Takeaway, always! The one last indulgent treat of the holiday before normality resumes.

SquigglePigs · 07/04/2011 18:07

Spag bol, cos there's always bolognese in the freezer, and it's quick and easy and reasonably healthy after holiday excesses!

dickcheeseandthecrackers · 07/04/2011 18:09

Pasta usually, fresh sort with olive oil and parmesan

lemonpuff · 08/04/2011 05:32

As a child, always had fish and chips, to 'finish the holiday off' best bit was the crappy sliced white bread. from the local shop Wink
