we are staying in a travel inn for 3 nights with out 13 month old and it suddenly occurred to me that we wont have a fridge or a mocrowave or any way of preparing baby meals. i think there is a beefeater next door, so i need to find out about breakfast etc, but at the moment she is not a very good eater and we still have to mash things up and she not too keen on finger foods etc - has anyone got any advice or suggestions for me, i am worried about her morning and bedtime bottle of milk and also what to do about mealtimes generally. this is probably a stupid question, but i am a first time mum who painics a lot and doesnt have many brain cells left after giving birth!!
thanks

Right, Buy single cartons of 'follow on milk' for her to drink, they can just be stored at room temperature. You will have a kettle in the room to heat it up. What we did with our ds at that age was to add a bit of hot water to the milk to warm it, obviously being careful not to add too much and making it too hot. Are you staying for breakfast? as she'll be able to 'pick' at yours, if not You could also make up ready brek in the same way for breakfast. Also take bananas which you could mash up with the milk, biscuits, mashed up rusks and whatever else she likes for snacks, but when eating out just ask for an extra plate and give her a few bits off your plate which you could mash up. Also you can buy soya yoghurts that don't need chilling and little pots of custard or rice pudding, which could even be eaten for breakfast as well. Have a mooch round the supermarket to get in things like that that you can take which don't need to be chilled or heated. Theres loads. Don't panic it'll be fine and try to enjoy your little break.

Furball is right - feeding them is easier than you might first think
We have frequent long weekend breaks rather than a long holiday. When the kids were younger we stocked them up with a good breakfast - weatabix, mashed banana, fruit juice, scrambled egg, toast, whatever they were serving up they seemed to eat at a year old. I would buy a couple of boxes of those organix biscuit type food, a couple of bananas hanging around for emergencies. For lunch and dinner there was always something they could eat without resorting to cutting up fish and chips! We often ordered a jacket potato with a suitable topping and they would enjoy the mash. Or we would order a plain pasta dish that we could cool off at the table and cut up into simple pieces. Honestly, you will be fine don?t worry about lack of fridge or microwave. Ready made cartons of milk don?t need it, neither do fruit or snack type biscuits.
If you get desperate, find a little chef - they always supply jars of reasonable baby food and baby cereal for free I think (wth adult meal).
Have a great time.
One thing I found useful is to take a video or two with me to play in the room. Most will have a video player and if they are really restless at night and finding it difficult to settle in strange place, a well known video can relax them and help them calm down rather than watching CNN!! A good handful of bedtime story books is also a good idea - often they need a couple more than usual to settle down and it can be very very dull if you only take one (from experience )
Does the travel inn have a pool? If so, this is a great way to give them a treat and exhaust young children before bed. Even now with eldest at school we still pick hotels with pools to tire her out after dinner.
Last thing while I think of it - worth checking if the room has a bath in. One of the ones we stayed in had shower only. Lovely room but a shower was terrible for a young baby who likes her bathtime routine. We ended up moving rooms after first night. Our fault for not checking room spec properly.
