I saw some pigeon breast for sale in my local farm shop and I'd quite like to give it a go. Is it very, very gamey? Has anyone got any good recipes or tips? TIA :)

Pop it on a hot griddle and eat them 'Rare', sliced up over a green salad. Not too gamey, but quite rich........and delicious.

You can eat it rare? I didn't realise that. I might try it in a casserole first just in case I hate it. It's only 75p for 2 breasts so I'm hoping that I'll love it, it'll save me a fortune Grin

We have pigeon breasts now and again, fried like steak - though it can take longer than you expect because it's quite dense meat.

You can also mince it and use in pasta sauce.

i've only tried it once but it was quite 'beefy' imo

75p for 2 breasts is fab isnt it?

let us know how you get on!

Well, when I say rare, I probably mean more like medium rare. You just don't want to over-cook it or it will go tough. English rare rather than french rare. You need to do more than just pluck it!

Ah, glad you said that, I eat my steak very raw rare. Grin
