I am never buying organic produce again! I took a head of organic broccoli out of my fridge yesterday and cut a few bits off to cook for the kid's dinner when I noticed a rather large, black, hairy caterpillar sitting on the bit in my hand. I chucked it in the bin, washed my hands and returned to the head of broccoli prepared to give it a second chance. At this point however I realised the entire thing was covered, not only in big, fat, hairy, black caterpillars, but also dozens of tiny little yellow larvae caterpillars. A bloody egg must have hatched inside the thing!! And I'm pretty sure at least some of them were still alive because by the time the I returned to the bin, the original caterpillar had crawled it's way to the top. ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh. Give me pesticides any day!!!!!

Asda has a theme here

My organic brocolli from Asda was recently featured in a thread i started about the caterpillar which got cooked and served up onto my plate

We all think it's cute when the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats through the food.

MIL's fresh veg is always crawling with stuff.

urgh... connected with nature is all well and good, but this must be where I draw the line. Actually, I'll admit that organic vegetable boxes hold no appeal at all for me anymore after trying a few and finding the veggies mostly half-eaten, with a huge beetle inside a pepper.
I once ate a big bowl of cherries, only to realise near the end that every single one had a maggot inside (BARF) - I was about 9 and hadn't thought to check.

I've always found broccoli to carry extra little friends, regardless of whether it's organic.

I've had organic corn on the cob, and noticed a dead caterpillar who was in the middle of burrowing its way out when he was plunged in boiling water! oops! I just ate around it!
Much prefer to see a bit of wildlife, it's a very healthy sign!
Just wash/soak in salty water if you're worried.
