Ainsley alternatives?

We are huge fans of Ainsley Harriot's Meals in Minutes book. We've tried almost all the recipes.
Can anyone recommend any similar types of recipes/books? Quick and tasty is what we're after.

Thanks

There is an annoying man, can't remember his name, writes in the Guardian and is v smug on his tv programme. Good book however. Well get brain working and get back to you.

Not sure of the name of the book either, v unhelpful. I am sure someone will know.

sobernow, are there many veggie recipes in Ainsleys book? We're a 1 veggie, 1 not, household and DD eats the best of both diets... We're always on the lookout for quick and easy, but end up buying seperate books for veggie and non-veggie dises. At the moment we swing between Jamie Oliver adaptions, a recipe scrapbook I've been collecting for years, and some old 'grub on a grant' type books from student days - can always upgrade them after all!

My fave recipe book for veggies right now is the World Food Cafe Cookbook - the recipes are great, most authentic I've ever found for those countries that I've visted, and surrounded with fantastic photographs. Anyone been to the restaurant in Covent Garden?

I love Nigel Slater, never seen him on tv but the way he writes in wonderful. Try 'Good Food' or 'Apetite'

Nigel Slater's memoir 'Toast' has been book of the week on radio 4 this week and it was very good. It made me laugh and cry. For quick and easy cooking I highly recommend his recipe books Real Fast Food and Real Fast Cooking (Penguin paperbacks). I love his writing style and always look forward to reading his columns.

'Real fast puddings' not 'cooking'... must learn to preview.

Waterbaby there are 14 veggie recipes in Ainsley's Meals in Minutes, we've tries 9 of them and, of those, 6 have become firm favourites altho' we're not veggie.

Thanks for suggesting Nigel Slater - I've looked on Amazon and because I'd only be buying the one book it'll be cheaper at Smiths/Waterstones etc. I'm off in to town tomorrow so will have alook.

Australian Womans Weekly does a meals in minutes book which has some lovely bits in them. Very easy and good for the budget too.
