How about American pancakes with blueberries in? Or plain with crispy bacon and maple syrup. Make a batch and it'll keep for 3 or 4 days (covered) in the fridge, though after a couple of days you'll need to add a splash of milk to loosen mix. For about 20 you'll need 6oz SR Flour, 1tsp baking powder, 1½oz caster sugar, large egg, approx 7 fl oz milk. About tbls per pancake in to pan, flip after 1 min, done after further 30 sec.
French Toast (I know it's more bread...) but always goes down well with my lot. Either sweet with cinnamon and maple, or savoury with grated cheese once cooked, or bacon. Good way of getting eggs into them.
If older DD likes cooking, get her to help make pizzas - cheat and use slices of bread, spread tom purée on and top with whatever, oven for as long as it takes for cheese to melt.
My DD3 loves 'helping' make wraps, I cook some chicken or prawns and then put a selection of veg sticks in bowls and she fills and rolls and scoffs keenly.
I agree soup's a mess, but when mine were smaller I just put cubes of bread in to thicken it into an almost stew and they lapped it up. Must confess to doing that for me at times...And it's so easy to throw any old manky veg in that have seen better days, but once souped up (pun absolutely intended) taste marvellous.
Also I make chicken and fish goujons with her - very messy at prep stage, but I find the more she's involved, the more she will eat. I make my bread crumbs whizzing up bread with herbs and parmesan or cheddar to make them a bit more exciting. Also do a big batch, cook and freeze then you got emergency food to shove in oven (from frozen) for about 20 mins.
