Anyone around who has sold homemade sauces/relishes to catering companies or restaurants? Need advice

Posted this in chat. Someone suggested I try here too... :)

I've been making my own sauces and condiments at home. I recently heard from an old friend who happens to be setting up a catering business and has asked if I could quote to supply him. This is all new territory to me and I have no idea what to quote!

Has anyone done similar before or alternatively know how much things such as ketchup, branstons pickle, e.t.c.. costs at Makro/Costco for a liter or a KG? I'm only thinking of Makro/Costco prices to make sure I'm not hugely above or below what would be expected in the price I have come up with.

On the one hand I expect I'd be more expensive because the ingredients are locally sourced and things like that. On the other hand I don't want to end up being a million % more expensive.

Anyone got some ideas?

No idea how much to charge but if you are selling you will insurance, food hygiene and your kitchen passed by env. health.

For Ref - Booker prices :

Heinz Tom Ket - 4 litres @ £ 10.55
Booker Basic brand (rubbish) - 4 litre @ 2.99

Branston - 2.5kg £ 6.09
Booker - 2.4kg £ 5.45

Thanks. :) That is really helpful.

I already have environmental health certificate and insurance. I'd already considered selling at farmers markets before this friend came to me to ask.

Thank you for your help. :)

What type of sauces do you make?
