poor you podmog. It's amazing how traumatic nasty food can be. Once had an offputting experience with a tin of beans. Opened it, dipped my finger in and licked it and then when I shook the tin out into the pan it shot out like a rocket and there was all this black steaming stuff in the bottom of the tin. Spent hours worrying about food poisoning.

I can tell you I was right off tins for some time and am still suspicious of baked beans to this day.

Yum to your jam, want some!

I once bought a chicken from Tesco's and found that the inside came with added extra chicken guts and c**p! They were very appologetic and gave me a joint of beef free of charge. they offered me another chicken but for some reason I had gone off the idea.....

I got food poisoning recently from chicken - so awful, I couldn't get the taste of it out of my mouth. YUCK

I haven't been able to bring myself to buy any meat in Asda since their minced beef once turned green on me.........yeeeuuuukkk !!

Furball · 12/09/2003 20:22

I've been put of whole chickens, as the last one I attempted to roast, had a nice big pus ball on its back, the kindly burst on touch, Yeugh. I felt green for weeks after.

Our local Safeway always has a bargain shelf, full off very strange coloured meats, can't imagine anyone would want any of it, even if it was given away. Doesn't give me alot of confidence in buying the 'good' stuff really.

Bogwoppit · 12/09/2003 22:15

Furball - Perhaps your local environmental health department would be interested. I cannot beleive that a supermarket is selling meat that is obviously not fit for human consumption.

B4 being a SAHM I worked in microbiology testing for food poisoning. It is so useful to EH dpts to know the source of infections so they cn sort the prob out.

Please do ring them if you see manky meat on sale again. a big supermarket shoudl know better.

alibubbles · 13/09/2003 08:08

Furball, our Safeway does the same, I often wonderw ho on earth is going to buy such obviously manky off meat! It is not even a real bargain.

I once cooked and ate a bite of spoiled broccoli -- yuck! Couldn't touch the stuff for over a year.
