Can anyone recommend me a decent tin for brownies

DD and I made the recipe from Jamie's Comic Relief cookbook yesterday. It was delicious but I only had a silicone cake tin. Unfortunately it fell apart when I tried to get it out. Does anyone have a tray/tin that they love, preferably one that's not hugely expensive?

Any square cake tin will do. I normally make mine in a 22cm square tin.

So how do you get it out without it all falling apart? Do you line it with anything?

I'd line with grease proof and I oddly make 4 extra strips of paper and put them in a cross shape to use as handles, so I can definitely get them out.

I am also generous with my lining.

Same here, we use a normal baking tin lined with greaseproof paper then don't cut brownies until cold.

Leave to cool in lined tin for a while so it doesnt break up

Would you like to post the brownie recipe as I promised DS we would make brownies and choc fairy cakes tomorrow.

I use Wilton Cake Release on my tins - it makes cakes/brownies just slide out. It is quite expensive but well worth it. I also use the lakeland brownie tin - which bakes them with a frame in them so they come out sliced!

I use a 20cm square one from John Lewis. Solid base and pretty heavy.

The key, IMO, is to fridge it for at least 2 hours before you cut it.

Thanks for all the replies, sorry I did'nt reply earlier. So the general concensus is line a traditional tin and let it cool. Blueberry - I looked at the Lakeland tin on Sat but just can't bring myself to spend over 20 quid on it! Collision - sorry I am a technophobe and don't know how to do links but the recipe was quite straightforward and well worth the £3 for the book. DD is going to try his Lemon Butter biscuits after school today. Taffeta are you the Taffeta from the Christmas thread? I have an image in my head of a domestic goddess a la Sarah Raven if you are.
