I am doing the catering for the in-laws suprise Ruby Wedding Anniverary party. I am just going to stick to the normal sandwiches, sausage rolls etc. There are 50 coming; how much do I buy?

I have already purchased a large ham joint ready for me to cook

Whatever you'd buy for 5 x 10. Sounds simple, but that's it really.

Although I'd think carefully about sandwiches. Making sandwiches for 50 people is actually quite hard work!

I know the sandwiches thing is going to be hard work; what i was thinking was if I half the baps and butter them then have plates of cold meat, cheese, egg and seperate salad bowls etc. This should also make it easier to reuse anything that is left

Bling - what do you mean 5x10?

I have done catering for 50 + several times now. The best one I've done was my DD's Christening....
I did huge bowl of coronation chicken, huge bowl of rice salad with loads of things in it, a huge bowl of green salad and a platter of curried eggs for the vegies in similar sauce to the chicken. We followed that with a vast bowl of Eton Mess and we did lemon jelly for the kids. Followed by Christening cake. It all went down well and almost all of it could be partially or fully prepared in advance.

Don't do sandwiches - total nightmare unless you have an army of helpers just before the event!
