Bread Pudding recipe needed

I want to make some for this Friday, do you think it would be okay if I make it on Wednesday.

All I need now is the recipe! I don't want to make bread and butter puddding. Tbh I don't really know the difference, but I do remember attempting to make bread + butter pudding and it was horrible!

Bread and butter pudding is really easy and only takes a feww minutes to prepare. I would do it on friday if you could - much tastier, Adding Baileys to the milk adds a pleasand flavour if it is for adults. I've also made a lovely one using pain-au- chocolat.

jenthehen · 17/10/2005 20:57

3- 4 pain au choc (going stale)
500ml milk
500mldoble cream
3tblsp caster sug
1 large egg
4 large egg yolks
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

I'll post method if you like sound of it

Kid - my mum used to make bread pudding by soaking the bread & then cooking it. Only trouble is - there were a lot of different stages in the middle that I can't remember. Definately bread pudding rather than b&B though - more of a cake type thing. Will try & get her to give me the recipe, but she tends to cook by 'guesstimate' so any recipes are very approximate.

It is bread and butter pudding but with a grown up and gorgeous chocolatey twist it's one of Nigella's. Is it for a dinner party?

jenthehen · 17/10/2005 21:06

Oh really sorry I misread, what is bread pudding?

kid · 17/10/2005 21:07

Its for DD's school. There is going to be lots of foods from lots of different countries for the children and parents to taste.

Your one sounds lovely Meggymoo, I just need to go and get some bread. The corner shop sells stale bread For once I'll be able to use it! I will try making a small amount tonight so we can test it.

Meggymoo - your recipe for bread pudding is now in my oven so I'll let you know how it tastes! Apparently, according to my kids, its disgusting and they don't want any!

It tastes really nice, I've just had another bit. I hope DH saves me from myself and goes and eats lots of it!

The only problem I had is it seems to be seperating a bit in the middle (the top from the bottom). I was thinking maybe an extra egg would sort that out?

Wow - freaky coincedence - I have a bread pudding in the oven. I haven't made one for years and just had an urge to make one this evening. Just waiting to take it out of the oven

kid · 19/10/2005 21:14

It was so nice, I have made another batch of it tonight. DS and DH love it, DD still won't even taste it!

I used your recipe last night Meggymoo - Thanks it was delish! I ate far too much and dh loved it too. We always try to make treats at home too. They just taste so much better and it makes you realise how much sugary and bland supermarket puds/desserts taste. Will def make it again.Yum.

Where has Meggymo's recipe gone?
I had it written on a piece of paper for years and when I went to get it, it has vansihed. I came here to get it and the recipe has vanished from here too!

HELP! I have a rough idea of the ingredients but haven't got a clue with amounts though.
