home-made stock

we used stock for a slow-cooker recipe that dh had made himself. It has come out of the freezer and been defrosted. Can I re-freeze or re-heat the leftovers from tonight's meal or am I likely to make my family ill?

would you reheat a meal that has been cooked with home-made stock that was stored in the freezer? I need advice :)

Yes you can reheat it. Freezing halts the bacteria that causes food to rot. Cooking kills the bacteria.

So when you cooked the recipe the first time using the frozen stock you killed any bacteria. If it has been in the fridge since then, the bacteria will not have had much chance to grow. However, rather than re-freeze it, I would reheat it to piping hot and finish up.

thanks Chil... I've found such contradicting advice online. Dh has a cast-iron gut so he will be fine so I'm cautious for the rest of us.
