4 Mars bars
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons peanut butter
2 cups Rice Krispies
1 cup milk chocolate chips or broken chunks of chocolate

  1. Melt butter, Mars bars and peanut butter over medium-low heat in large saucepan until smooth.
  1. Remove from heat. Stir in Rice Krispies.
  1. Press into greased 8" x 8" pan.
  1. Top with chocolate chips and place under grill for 30 seconds.
  1. Remove from oven and spread chocolate evenly over square.
  1. Put in fridge to set chocolate (1/2 hours to 1 hr.) Cut and serve.

I really want to try this but how do you measure 1/2 cup butter?

Jacksmania · 07/03/2011 05:20

Beijing - you soften it in the microwave and pour it in a measuring cup?

Nappyaddict - you just ruined my resolution to start eating better!!! Angry Thanks a lot .

:o

Oh, wait, ok, sorry - sometimes folks from the UK/Europe get confused by North American recipes. (I'm in Canada.). We don't weigh ingredients in recipes often. It's usually done by liquid measure.
1 cup = 250 mL

Does that help? Sorry I misunderstood your post! :)

beijingaling · 07/03/2011 06:24

Ahhh yes it does, thank you! I wasn't sure if you just packed it in to the cup or melted it so don't worry you didnt misunderstand at all!

nappyaddict · 08/03/2011 13:32

Jacksmania Does that mean you are supposed to melt the butter first? I just packed it in the cup solid.

That's why I sometimes find liquid measures annoying - if you keep butter in the fridge, packing it in a measuring cup is a PITA. If I know I'm going to be baking, I take the butter out of the fridge beforehand so it can soften. But if it's a spur-of-the-moment keep JB occupied kind of thing I end up chipping away at the butter like mad.

I think in this recipe, melting the butter to measure it isn't a big deal as you're supposed to melt it anyway.
But for recipes that call for creaming butter and sugar together until fluffy, starting with melted butter isn't so great, you don't get that fluffy texture.

That and steaming cheesecake is the full extent of my baking knowledge.
