Defrosting a chicken....help!

I don't usually freeze chickens, but got one on offer a few weeks ago, and pulled it out of the freezer last night, hoping to cook it for supper today. It's 2kg. I left it on the counter overnight (it's been there 8 hours) -and looking at the internet this morning, I see that "you should defrost chickens in the refrigerator". Help! I have put it in the refrigerator, and can leave it there until tomorrow to defrost (can cook something else today) but will it be safe to cook and eat?
Advice please!

It will be fine if you cook it today.

They recommend defrosting in the fridge so it isn't sitting about at lovely ambient germ-loving room temp for too long.

As long as it's cooked thoroughly before you serve it, it will be good.

Enjoy your meal

Agree, the chicken will be fine.

Don't worry about it but as with any chicken, make sure it's cooked through.

I must admit, I never put my frozen chickens in the fridge to defrost. I always leave them on the side overnight, then put them in the fridge in the morning. I've done this for about 20 years and it's always been fine.
