I don't understandSad

I was SO excited at getting one of those silicone giant cupcake tins and I followed the instructions, its been in the oven at 180C for 50 minutes and the middle is totally liquid?!?!?!

I'm not an inexperienced baker, I make cakes all the time, what the hell happened?

Advice anyone? I'm worried the top is going to be burnt now?

I seem to remember on a TV programme having to put half in and cook it for a while then add rest of the mixture and cook til done..............

180 is medium and there is a lot of batter in there against a full sponge cake which would take 50 - 1hr 20m. Perhaps 50mins is a little quick. Consider 170c for longer?

Is it a receipe on the tin or one you have used before?

valiumredhead - nar, that dont work as you end up with two cakes that dont adhere.

hi,

i make at least one of these a week. how much mix did you put in the base? i use about a 7-8" tin mix and fil to just below the guide line in the tin.

turnm the oven down to 165-170 degrees and bake in the middle of thge oven for about 20 mins more checking it after about 10 mins with a skewer.

There was a lot of batter in there and I did fill them fairly high but then again, the instructions said 180C for 45 - 50 minutes so thats what I did.

Stupid instructions.
