Bottomless pits!!

Help!

My three year old daughter has turned into a bottomless pit. We give her a plate suitable for her size for tea, but after she's finished she asks for more! I don't want her getting overweight (as I did and am still strggling with my weight) but I also don't want her going to bed still hungry coz then she won't go to sleep.

Any suggestions?

so long as its healthy food feed her however much she wants to it.

children are good at knowing how much food they need to eat so let her body decide.

Id much sooner give a child a larger portion of a freshly cooked dinner, then encourage lots of snacking.

i have looked after quite a few children who eat large (for their size) portions of healthy food during their day with me and still have a glass of milk and bowl of cereal before they go to bed at night.

i looked after a 5 year old who actually ate more than i did, and he was as lean as anything!

we give her a fruit (or 5!) then a yoghurt, cereal bar and things like that. Does that sound OK?

things like yogurt (unless natural) and cereal bars are normally full of sugar.

clearly not on the same scale as giving fruit shoots and chocolate / crisps / sweets Wink but IMO another serving of a balanced dinner would be prefereable!

As long as your dd eats healthy food and is physically active, she should be okay.
