Think i have to break the cycle but my nearly 3 year old still has milk in the morning and before bed. I didnt really think about it as it was just routine but now she is coming up to 3 i am thinking surely this is more of a baby thing to do.

What do they recommend for intake? Cant find it anytwhere...
Thanks

DD1 is 4.5 & has about quarter of a pint of warm full fat milk in a sucka mug (to prevent stinky mily smells on the bedding or carpet - she uses a cup the rest of the time but that's in the kitchen where it can be wiped up easily). She went straight to the sucka mug when weaned off breast milk at 24 mths. It seems to help get her in the mood for sleep - though it did take about a month of offering her small amounts of cow's milk before she was convinced it was as nice as human milk.

Depending on your child's bladder control / size, you don't necessarily need to reduce their intact when they're potty trained. DD has never had problem with bed wetting with her milk consumption. She does drink a lot during the day too though so I guess she must have a pretty big bladder.

We have two friends aged 7 & 9 and they still have milk - why would you need to stopsince milk's good for you?

Yes but spinach is good for you - it doesnt mean I want a whole plateful before bed though does it Grin

I just dont like to give them lots more food before they go to sleep and dont like them relying on it for comfort with that food/comfort association past bf.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this too.

NO my DS loves milk - DH has a cup of milk before bed everynight and me before I was dieting!

He has a cup in the morning and cup at night, doc was quite ok with that - I don't see why it's rather a lot? He doesn't wet the bed (lucky) and is like a twig Envy and he loves it. Sometimes he even has two cups, yikes! Grin

My 7 year old still has warm milk or her current favourite Ovaltine at bedtime, DH will still shout up to ask if she's ready for her "botbot" although she hasn't had her bedtime milk from an actual bottle for many years.

I agree with whoever said they'll be out binge drinking soon enough, nothing wrong with a milky drink with a bedtime story for as long as they want one.

btw, DH has been known to drink Ovaltine while playing Call of Duty on-line with his "clan", not sure that would do much for his street cred if they could see him Grin
