Non teeth-threatening snacks for 2 yr old

We've been to the dentist today. 4 yr old's teeth were declared 'perfect'. Shamefully for me the 2yr old has 2 teeth with early problems. I was mortified.

Dentist said to reduce sugar. Well the children have good meals so I can only address the snacks. So, what would be good snacks? So much, even the healthy stuff has sugar in it. I need help with the savoury options.

Juice is not great for teeth.

I don't know, we're in France and here it's normal for kids to have sweet snack at 5pm.

Cheese, veggies with dip, avocado, ham etc? DD has often fresh baguette with butter in the morning and sweet stuff once a day for a snack and for pudding after dinner. Hmm.

I saw dentist yesterday with DS (2)and discussed snacks / teeth etc.
I was concerned that he has some raisins / dried fruit most days.
She said not to worry, apparently it's juice, particularly apple juice, which does the damage, so much better to stick to water or very diluted juice if they are having it.

Just about everything has some tooth rotting properties, even bread/breadsticks being carbs are a form of sugar. So first off you need a regular (twice daily) routine of brushing, and this age you will still need to do it for them.

I was told not to brush too soon after eating though, as it can help the acid erode even more, so leave half an hour between.

If they have fruit, even dried fruit, then giving them some cheese to eat after can help neutralise the acid.

Yes juice is very bad, so water it down if you can't get them to drink water or milk.

Breadsticks are good as is cheese.
Avoid juice and too much fresh fruit (offer veg instead) no dried fruit, chocolate, sweets sugar.
Brush teeth often.

I've read there's a way to cure cavities through diet. Organ meats / cod liver oil are supposed to be super full of nutrients and make teeth really strong, stay straight and be less likely to decay. But I know it's so hard to get your kids to take them. We've been sneaking liver in to our kids' diets using pate spreads on pizza or in their Bolognese sauces but it's hard sometimes!

Our dentist said sweet stuff is OK but at mealtimes only, as more saliva is produced then, which protects teeth.

Snacks here include crackers, little ones like Ritz etc, breadsticks, carrots, wee bread rolls on own or with butter and marmite, cubes of cheese, the odd bag of cheddars or something. We also have fruit. Mine prefer it chopped up and with some lemon juice on.
