Inspiration needed desperately!

My son, 2 and a half, eats really well at nursery (hot lunch plus 2 good snacks and plenty of milk) so by the time he gets home he doesn't want to each much at family teatime.
I've tried just giving him small portions of what we're having but he just has a few mouthfuls and then pushes it away. I can't just give him cheese on toast every day (although I'm sure he'd eat it) and for some reason he just won't eat sandwiches. But, he will eat biscuits or crackers, lots of grapes, apple or orange, bits of cheese and fromage frais as long as he can eat them on the move rather than at the table. I've tried being 'creative' with the presentation of the food, but this doesn't seem to work either!

I'm not sure if I should be worried that he doesn't want to eat much with us, or whether its just that he's so excited about being home that he wants to play instead of sit at the table and eat!

Anyway, has anyone out there got any good ideas/inspiration on good nutritious snacks that will keep him interested and inspired to eat better when he gets home??

Thanks!

The number of "my toddler won't eat" threads on here!!!

Move your family evening meal to later when he's hungry?

Giving him snacks all the time when he comes home will just perpetuate the lack of appetite at the evening meal.

And just ignore it if he's not hungry - he is obviously getting enough at nursery.

yeah melted! i would give him a little plate of fruit when he first comes home and move the evening meal till later when he's properly hungry.
