High fibre snacks needed!!

Hi there,

My 9 month old was born with some intestinal problems, meaning everything wasn't as connected as it should have been. As a result he has and will always have big problems with constipation.
Does anyone have any recipes for some high fibre snacks that are a bit more exciting than just dried or raw fruit and vegetables?

Any help would be really very much appreciated!!
Thank you!

make your own?

All Bran Fruit Loaf
4oz All bran
5oz caster sugar
10oz mixed dried fruit
1/2 pint milk
4oz self raising flour
Put All Bran, sugar and dried fruit in a bowl and mix well together. Stir in milk and leave to stand for at least an hour. Sieve in flour, mix well and put into a well-greased 2lb loaf tin.
Bake in moderate oven [Gas4, 350 or 180]for about 1 hour. Turn out of tin and cool. Serve sliced with butter!

Dry mini shreddies or malties?
wholemeal pitta & hummus?

Great, thank you both. I will try all of those!

My colleague at work used to make the All Bran loaf and I can testify that it was really lovely! Hope your son likes it and it helps him.

I know you said not raw fruit but we had to have a high fibre diet and found that kiwi fruit was the best thing, they don't need a lot to be highly effective and it's easy to put into other things if they get fed up of it on it's own - we mostly put it in yogurt.

okra is the ultimate cleanse veggie.
its mucilage and fiber are "soft" and they trap water + make stools "slippery" (sorry TMI) its also packed with folic acid and vitamins/minerals.

make a light chicken soup with okra then blend into soup. add a drop of cream.
you can also stream and blend with any veggie puree.

you can also steam and dip in whatever he likes (seasoned yogurt or hummus).

Stewed prunes blended with a little yogurt are also very good.

Lentils - they do the trick too, lentil bolognaise is lovely :)
