Need to make cakes and have no caster sugar. Would granulated work instead?

expatinscotland · 22/01/2011 15:50

yes. it's what they use in the US and everything comes out fine.

KatyMac · 22/01/2011 15:51

Yep

But icing doesn't Wink

b1uebells · 22/01/2011 15:51

Do I just throw it in with the butter the same as caster?

Absolutely. I do a lot of baking and always use granulated.

NimpyWindowmash · 22/01/2011 15:59

Yes it's all the same thing, just slightly different consistency

taffetasplat · 22/01/2011 16:06

yes but it will have a grittier texture

if you have a food processor blitz it there quickly. not too much, or you'll have icing sugar Grin

Thank you all. Cakes in oven, dc didn't seem to have any complaints while licking the bowl so fingers crossed they are shaping up nicely!
