I have used sour cream and greek yogurts out of date and they have been completely fine. Could I do the same with double cream? It says use by date 8th of Jan. but really they smell fine, it is just less liquidy.

Let me know if I would food poison everybody in the family if I do this.

If it smells good, dip your finger in and taste, check it tastes OK too. I expect its fine.

I had some Waitrose double cream in the fridge that was sell by 25 December, that was still good on 9th Jan.

Hmmm... 8th is too out of date for me but if it smells OK, taste it and see.

I like my cream about a week past it's sell by date. When it's a good yellow colour and with a nice thick layer on top.
My father would only have cream when the surface had started to crack.
Really fresh cream has almost no taste at all.

I would taste a tiny bit first.
I might use it in cooking (probably not with a use by of 2 weeks ago, tbh!) but not to have on a pudding.

sniff it and taste it

if it's not cheesey or fizzy go with it!

I'm in the dip and lick brigade too Wink

and i've already been called 'grim' on another food post so past caring Grin

Honestly though, try a little bit, it won't harm you if it's just a tiny amount, but not worth ruining a dish with rancid cream.
