Clemantines tangerines and satumas are all mandarin oranges.

Clemantines are smaller and sweeter and contain no seeds.

Tangerines are more tart and have seeds.

Satumas are small japanese fruit easily peeled and nearly always seedless.

I think. :)

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 08:42

clemantines and tangerines are rank and satsumas are delish!

Littlepurpleprincess · 15/01/2011 14:54

satsumas come in that red net stuff, whereas tangerines come in tins, right? Grin

PigletJohn · 15/01/2011 20:05

I have this problem too.

sweet and no seeds is what I like.

So it's Clementines for me!

Brasso4 · 15/01/2011 20:19

Thank goodness - this question bugs me every winter!

talkingnonsense · 15/01/2011 20:21

No, MANDARINS come in tins! And are peeled clementines...I think!

Shodan · 15/01/2011 20:23

Satsumas have more yellowy skin and are easier to peel. They are also the correct orangey type fruit to put in Xmas stockings.

The others- I have absolutely no idea, except they vary as to which are on BOGOF at Tesco from week to week.

HTH Grin

He-he, always wondered this and just thought it was due to size/ripeness so thanks for the info!

Also, difference between a burrito, enchilada, and a fajhita puzzles meConfused

Ooops, so puzzled that I posted twiceBlush

nickschick · 15/01/2011 20:29

Satsumas are for christmas.
mandarins are from tins.
clementines stay in the fruit dish.

SoMuchToBits · 15/01/2011 20:30

Agree with thinbride. Satsumas are just much better than all the others....

ivykaty44 · 15/01/2011 20:33

this explains the similarities

HeadsUp · 15/01/2011 20:51

They have different names on the little stickers on them.

wow that's confusing!

peanutbutterkid · 17/01/2011 14:22

@ PatTheHammer

Burrito: Flour (wheat) tortilla with filling (not just cheese)

Enchilada: Corn (maize) tortilla with filling and usually with special enchilada sauce poured over it.

Fajita: kind of meat filling, served inside maize or wheat tortillas.

So fajitas can be enchilada or burrito like, but burros and enchiladas are never the same thing.

And as for "wraps" don't get me started, I hate that word.

SparkyUK · 18/01/2011 14:42

@ PatTheHammer and peanutbutterkid

cringe, I hate the word wrap (and usually the food item)too.

I would just add to your definitions

Burrito: usually something you can pick up and eat with your hands, though restaurants seem to only sell Giant Burritos (which would probably just make them Burros, no?) so a fork will most likely be involved.

Enchiladas: definitely a plate and fork item.

Fajita: usually a self-assembly job, which you then pick up and eat with hands.

And then of course there are tamales which are lip smacking heavenly goodness.
