packed lunch for school - how shall i 'pack' it?

DS is going to have packed lunch this week at school (he had school dinners last week but i was still cooking him a full meal in the evening so doesn't seem much point)

I've got him a 'Thomas' lunch box which he's thrilled with but what shall I actually pack the sandwiches etc in to go inside the box?

Any tips please? I'll probably be giving him a sandwich, few tomatoes, few mushrooms and a biscuit.

TIA

clingfilm

or you can buy little sandwich bags

sandwich goes in little sandwich bag (1000 for £1 at poundland!). yogurt, fruit and tomatoes just go in as they are. usually buy wrapped biccies for lunch but put them in another bag if unwrapped. make sure they are thin enough for him to rip open and if you are sending a yogurt dont forget the spoon (i use plastic disposable ones cos they go missing so often)

I usually wrap the sandwiches in a sandwich bag and put any fruit into small plastic containers. A tip from Jamie Oliver's book is to freeze the juice cartons so they act like cool packs and by lunch time they've defrosted.

thanks very much. Do most reception pupils have adults to assist them with their lunch do you know?

Apparently Lakeland do a little compartmentalized box specially for lunchboxes so you don't have to wrap everything individually. I keep meaning to go into Lakeland to look for it!

here they are!

I haven't spent the past three hours looking, honestly!

When I took a lunchbox my mum always used to freeze my yoghurt, had same effect as the juice and my yoghurt was nice and cold, if I was lucky there was still a big frozen bit in the middle!

I put sarnies in foil. Do them the night before and put in the fridge then into the box in the morning. I put everything else in teh box the night before.

Put grapes or cubes of cheese in a little tommee tippee pot with lid - one of those that you put baby food in for when you are going out!!
