Gluten-free/dairy-free treats

I need to buy for a friend who follows a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. Can anyone suggest some delicious treats that would be acceptable? The only thing I can think of is amaretti biscuits, and I bought those last year.

I had a quick look at the gluten-free cake and biscuit aisle, but they looked a bit... worthy. And my experience of gluten-free cakes to date has not been overwhelmingly positive. However if anyone can recommend a particular one, that would be helpful.

Savoury things would be acceptable as well as sweet ones. She does eat goats cheese, just not cows milk products.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Helloooo Chillipickle

Honeybuns is an excellent range of gluten-free cakes, cookies and bars, and I mean good. You can buy them from john lewis cafes, sainsbury cafes, waitrose (i think), not on the high street.com. Their website is honeybuns.co.uk. Oh, and dairy free as well. xx

Thorntons do dairy free chocolates.

Does she like olives? You can get some very fancy olives now.

These look nice here

Waitrose and Sainsburys have a lovely free from range which are GFCF.
My two DSs are on a GFCF diet and I regularly pick up little treats when I'm passing.

Goodness direct also do Dairy free ice cream and puddings.

In addition to the supermarket gluten free ranges you could go in Holland & Barret. They do the Mrs Crimbles gluten free range of cakes.

Savoury snacks are tricky as so many things are sprayed with malt (from barley) or have wheat in them. Things like nuts roasted lightly with chilli and garlic are nice to do as nibbles or rice cakes (care as they are sometimes sprayed with malt) with savoury toppings like prawns are good. Egg dishes are good too.

Incidentally, I suspect she is not dairy intolerant but lactose intolerant. She sounds as if she is coeliac. She may be able to tolerate lactofree milk otherwise soya milk.

Do remember coeliacs can eat all veg and meat and fish and fruit so their diet is not that restrictive. Just be careful with shop bought sauces - they nearly all contain gluten unless specifically say they do not.

Ooh, booja booja truffles, never heard of those but they do look rather nice. Think I'll be buying her a box of those for Christmas. Thanks for the tip!
