Did anyone read in The News of the Wolrd magazine this week about sleepy milk? Apparently it is taken from cows in the middle of the night and contains lots of nice sleepy hormones and "works". Bloody dh had thron magazine away and now can't find out where to get it. Thought it was Waitrose but can't find it on their website

Oooh ooh I know I know! It's called Bedtime Milk, it's organic and stocked by Waitrose. Can I have a house point please?

I saw this article too. The packaging had cows on it under a night sky (??). Sounds like a gimmick to me, probably 50p more than normal milk, but I am an advertisers dream and will no doubt end up having a sly look in the cabinet.

ThomCat · 28/08/2003 11:25

Sounds completley ridiculous, a complete scam, I'm off to get mine right now!!!!

SamboM · 28/08/2003 11:31

Anyone tried it yet?

oliveoil · 28/08/2003 11:41

Yes zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

lou33 · 28/08/2003 12:53

Apparently it contains more melatonin because they are milked at night.

mrsforgetful · 29/08/2003 22:33

well.......if it really does contain 'melatonin' it will be in my shopping trolly....my 9 yr old aspergers son takes a prescribed 'melatonin' capsule every night B4 bed... and actually asks to go to bed cos he's tired!! (pre-melatonin he was unable to sleep by 12 or 1am)

Finbar · 30/08/2003 07:40

lou33 is right - apparently there is more melatonin in the milk in the evening - they milk them at night and hence the much higher levels of the wonder substance. It sold out completely when it was first introduced !

Am definately going to get some but nearest Waitrose is 10 miles away. Was in the area today but called them and had run out - never mind. And Oliveoil its MORE than 50p extra a pint (ouch!) but frankly if it works what would you pay for a decent nights sleep? I say definately 80p for a glass of milk!

and...what's the verdict - doe sit work??
My dd1 has been staying up later in the hols and her body clock is all out of kilter - this may be just whay she/I need!!

runragged · 06/09/2003 22:31

My friend bought me some, one tiny bottle. They played up as usual at bedtime but were both asleep before 8 o'clock, then we didn't hear apeep out of them until 7 the next morning, no "mummy I need a wee wee", no "mummy I need a cuddle", "mummmmyyyyyyy" or dd's sitting outside our bedroom door.

Can't deem it a success on one night so am going to do the 20 mile round trip to waitrose (calling ahead first!) and buy a weeks worth! I really think that with children a lot of the disturbed nights is "habit". I think if you can just crack them for a few nights success is round the corner. Like going to the toilet, I swear dd only wakes up because she always does.

I agree about "Habit" Runragged....I think I'll also do the 15 mile roundtrip to buy some..Thanks for the tips!
