Dd (11 months) loves pasta. Do any mn'ers have any new recipes that I can try?ideally very quick and very child friendly.

There are no allergies in the family so she can eat just about anything.

Are you after a pasta recipe? one of the first pasta dishes DS ate was pasta with mackerel and creme fraiche.

while the pasta is boiling fry some onions and garlic. Mix in the mackerel, a bit of lemon juice and creme fraiche. When the pasta is nearly cooked add some broccoli to the pasta to let it boil for a minute. Chuck everything together and add some parmesan if your DD will eat it. bon apetite!

Yankbabymum thanks. Dd loves peas and cheese with her pasta. I will try your mackerel recipe, she will like that. But are citrus fruits okay for babies? That's one of the few things I have been careful not to give dd

Pasta with Philadeplphia type soft cheese and tuna, peas, sweetcorn

DD (12 months) loves pasta twirls with soft cheese and pesto, with any steamed veg mashed in. She seems to be able to eat almost as much as me!

There's so much you can do, esp with philly. I do philly with smoked salmon (you can buy salmon trimmings quite cheaply) and peas or brocolli. Hidden veg sauce (just a bog standard tomato sauce with a few extra veg chucked in) is good to have in the freezer, you can always add some tuna and cheese to make a tuna pasta dish, or sometimes if we've got leftover cold chicken I chop it up and add it to the sauce.

I also do philly with spinach and ham which dd loves. I use frozen spinach, one pellet in the microwave for a minute, add it to philly with some chopped ham.

My dd also loves filled fresh pasta, things like ravioli with spinach and ricotta, which I usually just serve up with a drizzle of olive oil, maybe a teeny bit of crushed garlic and a scrape of parmesan. dd likes to pick them up and eat them with her fingers.

Headfairy.....sounds lovely. Is smoked salmon suitable for an 11 month old? Isn't it quite high in salt?
At least she's almost 12 months. She can have everything then.

I only use a tiny bit, really finely chopped up it probably amounts to only about half a tablespoon full maybe. Not much at all. You could always used non smoked salmon, if you're doing some for yourself, just trim a bit off. You can chop it up finely and put in to the pan with the cooked pasta and philly. You don't even need to cook the salmon first, put it in raw and cook it all together over a low heat until the salmon is all cooked. Takes only a minute.

I blitz some of whatever pasta sauce we're having (so long as it's low salt - no anchovies yet!) then mix in the pasta.

Will try the filled fresh pasta though - great finger food.

Sardine pasta (I hate it but the dc love it). Just mix pasta, sardines(skinless and boneless for the dc, cheap ones for dh) and some sort of tomato based pasta sauce.

We use spaghettini (the tiny pasta usually put in soup) for DD2 who's just 8 months old - I put it inside a rice ball & lower it into the water we're boiling our pasta in about 4 mins before the end - that way we only need to boil one pan but the pastas don't get mixed up.

She eats any sauce we're having but loves bolognese mashed up with a fork - the mince isn't too chewy if you've only got small pasta to cope with.
Smoked salmon with cream and lemon plus frozen spinach.

Ham with cream & wholegrain mustard.
Quick one - if it's just her as we're having something she can't eat - double cream, splash of extra virgin olive oil & grated parmesan.

yankbabymum · 10/12/2010 15:28

a squeeze of lemon juice is fine and smoked salmon in small amounts is also fine.

Thanks for starting this thread, loads of yummy ideas!

You're welcome yankbabymum

Dd loves lentil bolognese with fusilli and grated cheese.
I think I will try some Philadelphia and salmon.

I have canned tuna. I think I'll rinse it to get rid of the salt and she can have a little bit with pasta tomorrow.
